My name is Chris, I am a 3D printing hobbyist from australia. I dont really specialise in anything specific, but 3D printed tools and tabletop accessories are some things youll probably seen quiet often. I do all my 3d printing on a Ender 3, which I highly recommend as a budget printer. Currently I only run 1 printer but I hope to expand that in the future. Recently acquired a photon 0 to do resin printing with. I like to share all my 3D printing ideas for free although I do plan to sell stuff in the future. Most of my projects will be mostly 3D printed with a few non printed components included, these can often be found on ebay. I actually use the cheapest filament I can get for all my projects, again I hope to change this in the future.

The Sequel Some people were waiting for maybe idk This is the second upload of this video, to include the disclaimer and also the mini version of the print. Its a shame its not more functional but I dont know what I expected. replacing the hands with regular solder helping hands would make it to be pretty useful but changes the look a lot. But overall I still learnt a lot making it so its a win...

I made an engraving vise much like yours but from a sawn off bowling ball for a base. I think I used that exact lazy susan bearing and that turned out to be the the weak point, terribly rough in rotation and with a lot of lateral movement. A shaft running in two ball bearings is a far better option I think. It also gives you the option to lock the rotation of the vise with a set screw running through the side of the base (in an threaded insert in the base print maybe?). This is useful for when you need to apply force and frees up your other hand. Good for light hammer and punch work for instance.

I've gotten through 1/4'' mild steel with a standard hole saw, though barely. The saw was junk after that and only sort-of worked the last quarter of the cut.

Great idea borrowing the old DIY lathe concrete trick, it's all about mass and rigidity. Black oxide the steel/stainless parts if shiny isn't your thing. By the way...this would absolutely be worth the time and effort in making pattern boards and sand casting the base, column, and housing parts in aluminum!

Great build but I kinda got lost! Maybe use the “assume the reader knows nothing about the subject” guideline and don’t be afraid to over explain some things! Explanations are intriguing and keep the viewer interested and engaged. I didn’t know what half of the parts were or how they were gonna work or when you mentioned concrete bolts but not anything about concrete? Great build tho!

I wonder if you could use steel shot, like for a shot-blaster, instead of concrete. Steel is about 3 times heavier than concrete by volume so much less could be used and it could be emptied back out for modifications.

About the miniature painting bit. It does not seem very helpful for shaky hands people. Bracing your hands supports both the miniature and the brush, and they don't shake in relation to each other that way. When the miniature is separate from your brush hand, then you will have issues. Just my two cents, and what I feel if trying to paint without bracing both the mini and the brush at the same time.

Re: Rust Cracking the concrete - I'd take a look at Practical Engineering's videos on concrete and rebar and Colin Furze's videos on his tunnel/bunker/underground garage build. The reason rust cracks concrete is because the steel used expands when it rusts. Not a lot, but enough to ruin precision surfaces and cause concrete to crack due to the fact that concrete is great in compression and terrible in tension. If you put something that's already rusty into the concrete and completely cover it, then it won't continue to rust, which means that it won't expand, which then means the concrete won't crack. If I'm remembering right, concrete can also react with rust while curing to prevent the steel from rusting further. I'm not 100% sure I have that right and even if I do, I don't know what chemical reaction is happening to do that. But, the TL;DR: is that you probably don't have to worry about the concrete cracking.
